The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it has adopted and published the final version of the Information Memorandum (IM) to guide the upcoming 5G auction.
The commission announced this on Friday in a statement issued by Reuben Muoka, director, public affairs, NCC.
According to NCC, the final version of the IM would serve as a guide for the “auctioning of the remaining lots of the 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum for the deployment of fifth generation (5G) services in Nigeria.
The last two lots to be auctioned in December 2022 are ‘lot A’ (3400-3500MHz) and ‘lot C’ (3600-3700MHz) for the reserve price of $273,600,000,000.
The first two lots were won by MTN and Mafab Communications last year.
Meanwhile, prior to the first auction, the commission had published a draft IM and requested stakeholders to make comments and inputs into the document to enrich its contents.
Subsequently, comments were collated and discussed at a stakeholder’s engagement forum hosted by the commission on the same subject.
NCC, however, urged all stakeholders to check public notices in the dailies and visit the website to study and review the final IM.
“All comments have been considered and a final information memorandum to guide the upcoming auction is now available on the commission’s website (www.ncc.gov.ng) with the link: https://www.ncc.gov.ng/media-centre/public-notices/1297-public-notice-final-im-3-5ghz-spectrum-band-2022,” the statement said.
