–Empathises with Flood Victims

The Acting National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, (LP) Prince Kennedy Ahanotu has commended the Nigerian youths home and abroad especially those committed to the Obidient Movement for changing the narratives of the Nigerian political space through their sheer organisation, boldness and peaceful disposition. The Youth Leader promised to uphold the party’s constitution through youth oriented programmes. He stated this at a press conference titled ’Building the Youth Without Looting’ held at the Labour Party’s House in Abuja, Friday (today). Ahanotu bemoaned the situation in the country, noting that, Nigerian youth have witnessed “tough and rough times” occasioned by leadership deficit and a wobbling economy.
He acknowledged the positive outcomes from the ‘Obidient’ Movement so far, just as he noted the recently concluded nationwide rallies of the various youth support groups were effective. The Labour Party National Youth Leader charged the ‘obedient’ loyalists to sustain the momentum until their efforts result in victory for the party’s presidential candidate come 2023.
Ahanotu also used the occasion of the press conference to enumerate the challenges face by the Nigerian youths in the hands of successive governments , which according to him include, “unnecessary humiliations and killing of our acclaimed future leaders at every slightest opportunity.”
Prince Ahanotu made reference to the ENDSARS struggle which took the lives of some Nigerian youths; he said the experience was faced during the anniversary of same struggle:
“Just yesterday, young people who were remembering the death of their fellows during the ENDSARS protest in 2020 were tear gassed in Lagos. This is more reason why we cannot afford to lose this once in a century opportunity to vote Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed as President and Vice president come February 2023.”
Similarly, the Labour Party Youth Leader condoled with the victims of the recent flood disaster across the country and appealed to the government to help cater for the immediate needs of those affected.
He challenged the Police and other security agencies to protect Nigerians “especially during this build up to take back Nigeria,” even as he called on the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,” to rise to their responsibilities and not try anything inimical to the smooth conduct of the 2023 general election.”
Also, he called on the Nigerian youths to collect their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs and be prepared to make political statements against the presidential election in February, 2023.
Finally, the LP youth leader appealed to supporters of the party nationwide to remain peaceful and focused, because the 2023 general election will only be determined by “competence, credibility, character and leadership antecedents.”
