Investigate Constituency Projects, NOA Tell Nigerians, as ICPC Launches Tracking Group

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has passed a wake to call to Nigerians urging them to conduct oversight functions on constituency projects allotted to their communities.

The agency further called on Nigerians to show more interest on monies allotted to the execution of such projects, adding that they should be keen to investigate how such monies are being utilized.

The Director-General of agency during town hall sensitization programme held in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), titled “On My Constituency, My Project”, held at Tahir Guest Palace, stated that, “in the twentieth year of uninterrupted democracy in our country, our concern should be how this vehicle of development can be made to deliver the desired gains to the people.”

Represented by the agency’s director in charge of Kano, Alhaji Lawan Haruna Makarfi, he further said the ICPC is tracking the location and implementation of constituency projects, noting that in the process it has been discovered that there is the need as a vital component aspect of the process to get the citizens involved right from the conception.

He posited that the involvement of the communities would serve the genuine interest to preserve and protect those projects from the greed of profiteers.

In his remarks, ICPC director-general, represented by the agency’s director of education, Alhaji Ashiru Baba, said ICPC has launched its constituency projects tracking group initiative with the mission to combat and forestall corrupt practices in the execution of such projects across the country.
