Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, has advised its employees to stay off public places throughout the weekend as it said it would close shop in the Federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja.
This development comes a few days after the United States embassy alerted its citizens in the FCT of high-risk terror attacks in the area.
According to the alert, terrorists targeting government buildings, places of worship, schools, and markets may strike.
The US said it would offer reduced services at its embassy in the FCT until further notice and asked its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel and review security plans.
But, in a statement on Friday, Julius Berger advised its employees to stay off public areas throughout the weekend in order to stay safe.
“In response to ongoing security concerns within the FCT, it is advised to avoid all public events within the FCT environment, including supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs and other areas where many may meet,” the statement reads.
“This advice is applicable from Friday, October 28, 2022 in the evening until Monday, October 31, 2022 in the morning.
“It remains possible to move to other JBN work or residential locations throughout the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Department of State Services (DSS) as well as the Nigerian police have responded to the security alerts.
The explainer reports that Nigeria Police Force (NPF) said Abuja is not saturated with bombs.
It assured that the federal capital territory (FCT)) is “safe and there is no imminent threat”.
