The Nigerian Emerging Leaders Forum (NELF), has called on the Nigeria youths to eschew bitterness, political differences, gender and ethno-religious differences, class biases and other fault lines that are either man made or ordained, in order to forge ahead with the prevalent global mood of togetherness and progression.
The National Convener, Nigerian Emerging Leaders Forum, Alkasim Muhammad Zangina made this known following the current spate of insecurity in the country from internet fraud, to armed robbery, illegal migration for sex work, banditry and terrorism, cultism, political thuggery, oil bunkering, human rituals and organ trafficking.
The National Convener made the call at the inaugural press briefing to mark the launch of emerging leaders forum saying most of the vices today in Nigeria are perpetrated by young people and it’s time these issues be placed at the top burner of governance and policy formulation.
According to him, NELF, is coming on board to serve as a nexus between policy makers and young people, saying what is currently happening in the country is a symptom of a society that has forsaken its youth right from the family unit to schools and the society at large.
Zangina said NELF is envisioned to promote and ensure the democratic and social rights of young Nigerians. We also seek to actively advocate and encourage political participation at all levels of our national lives and most importantly offer scalable skills and civic
education with a view to offering opportunities for personal and general social development.
Also speaking, the National Secretary, NELF, McEva Temofe said NELF are a collective of visionary young Nigerians who are passionate about change in our country, with a strong conviction of systemic processes as a catalyst for change. “We are change agents with the requisite experience and expertise from different segments of life -from medicine to administration & governance, legal experts,
entrepreneurs, farmers, media specialists and politicians”.
He encouraged young Nigerians to toe the path of good leadership, learn the positive side of our leaders and improve upon and shorn negative tendencies capable of destroying the fabric of our common existent as a nation.
In the same vein, the National Publicity Secretary NELF, Maryam Ahman said the young people have a unique chance to ensure that we build the future we deserve in Nigeria, adding that Nigerian youth are dominating and being praised for their acumen in the global Start-up space, either as back-end engineers, developers or innovators. “Only us can rekindle and inspire the hope that we deserve to propel the youth of this country to greatness”.
