The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has donated N100 million to victims of flood disaster in Kano State.
The ruling party’s flagbearer made the donation during a dinner organised in his honour by Kano Business Community Council over the weekend.
Tinubu said the donation was intended to help alleviate the sufferings of the flood victims in the affected Local Government Areas of the state.
The APC standard bearer also called for continuous prayers to end flood disasters in the state and the nation at large. The former Lagos State Governor promised that if elected, he would ensure Nigeria’s diversity serves as a source of prosperity for all, regardless of tongues or tribes. He assured that existing industries will be repositioned, which will in turn serve as a competitive source of industrialisation and growth, not only in the North but the entire country.
Tinubu praised Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje for his infrastructural development in the state, even as he described him as a friend and reliable partner, adding that the relationship between Kano and Lagos state had been vibrant for many years due to the similarities between the two economic giants.
The APC flagbearer assured the business community in Kano that he would provide a competitive business environment in the state.
“If we win the election, we will call your representatives and see how we can move the nation forward,” he said. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje on his part, expressed the confidence that the APC candidate has the capacity to provide the needed leadership that would consolidate and continue to ensure the country’s democratic gains.
According to the governor, “Kano is APC and APC is Kano. So, our people are on board and we are soliciting for their support as usual.”
Also, the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, commended the Business Community Council for organising the dinner in honour of the presidential hopeful. He described the move as an endorsement for the party’s presidential candidate, assuring that their demands would be met if Tinubu wins the Presidential election next year.
Some of the members of Kano business community urged Tinubu to concentrate on power generation and distribution, in order to safe industries from total collapse. Present at the dinner were some of the APC governors from the North, including the governors of Jigawa, Yobe and Zamfara States Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, Alhaji Bello Matawalle and Alhaji Mai Mala-Buni, as well members of the National Assembly, and the Kano State Executive Council.
It would be recalled that the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the first to lend support to victims of the floods that ravaged many parts of the country. Obi upon his visit to the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, had called on presidential candidates of the bid parties to suspend political campaigns to support and commiserate with the flood victims in the country.
