The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has revealed that approximately 5,000 federal civil servants may not receive their December salary due to discrepancies in their dates of first appointment and dates of birth.
The National President of ASCSN, Tommy Okon, brought attention to this issue, while also assuring affected workers that the union is actively working with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to resolve the matter.
Mr. Okon explained that, thus far, 2,772 workers have successfully been reinstated onto the payroll of the Federal Government following the completion of their online and physical verification exercises.
While progress has been made in rectifying the discrepancies, the ASCSN President called on the government to expedite the resolution process to avoid any further delays in the payment of salaries for December.

Emphasizing patience on the part of affected ASCSN members, Okon reiterated the union’s commitment to resolving the issues promptly and within the confines of the law.
He disclosed that the names of the 5,000 civil servants with discrepancies have been forwarded to their respective Directors of Human Resources for confirmation.
Speaking in Abuja, Mr. Okon provided an update on the physical verification exercise conducted for 17,000 core civil servants who were initially delisted from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
He mentioned that 2,772 workers have been verified successfully and have had their payment processes initiated, as no issues were found in their records. However, those with discrepancies require further verification to confirm their details.
Okon urged public servants to regularly check the website of the Head of the Civil Service for updates on the ongoing exercise. He clarified that while the payment for November 2023 has been concluded, the affected civil servants will not receive their salaries for that month.
Nevertheless, considerable efforts are being made by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to ensure that the cleared individuals receive their salaries for December, along with any outstanding arrears from September.
ASCSN appeals to the Federal Government, specifically the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to expedite actions and prevent any delays in the payment of salaries for December.
