The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour blackout on Saturday, February 10, in some parts of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. The areas include; Lokogoma, Kabusa Garden, TradeMore, Pyakasa, Aherita, Chika, Games Village, Stadium, Wuye, Utako, Life Camp, and Idu.
In a statement issued by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, said there would be a planned routine maintenance on the 132kV line 1 at both Gwagwalada and Apo transmission substations.
The TCN spokesperson added that there will also be power interruption at the 132/33kV Kukwaba transmission substation.
He said the maintenance will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed as indicated,” the statement added.
In December 2023, TCN said its Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132 kilovolts (KV) transmission line 1 had been vandalised.
The commission said investigations revealed a vandalised portion on the line route between Tower 23 and Tower 25. The vandals had also carted away conductors, causing a power outage at Kukwaba transmission substation.
