A non-political group, Corps De Progressive, appeals to Governor-elect Alhaji Usman Ododo to address the state’s pressing issues as a top priority upon assuming office in Kogi State.
The group reveals that certain desperate politicians employed tribal tactics, conducting an ethnic-based campaign that has the potential to sow tribal disharmony in the state.
Congratulating the Governor-elect and extending best wishes, the group urges him to foster unity, prioritize inclusivity, engage with diverse community leaders, promote cultural exchange programs, and invest in initiatives benefiting all ethnic groups.
In a statement signed by its President, Com. Yunusa Jimoh, and made available to journalists yesterday, the group encourages Ododo to engage in dialogue where necessary, addressing concerns and emphasizing shared values for a more cohesive and harmonious state.
Jimoh said, “Treating civil servants fairly and justly is imperative for social justice and economic advancement for the larger population of the State, considering Kogi State’s reputation as a Civil Servant State.
“This will help foster a positive work environment, boost morale and productivity, enhance job satisfaction, and lead to increased commitment and dedication to public service.
“Prioritizing appointments based on qualifications, expertise, and merit will ensure a competent administration. It is also crucial to acknowledge and involve those who supported your campaign for political cohesion.
“Finding a middle ground where competence prevails, balanced with considerations for political allies, can create a well-rounded team that blends expertise with loyalty.
“In all, be wary of greedy and corrupt individuals; focus your efforts on educated, public-spirited individuals, especially those with the requisite experience and unblemished track records. This approach can contribute to both effective governance and political stability.
“As you embark on the journey ahead, may you navigate the challenges with wisdom and grace. May your tenure bring prosperity, unity, and positive transformation to our dear Kogi State and Nigeria at large.”
