Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Uba Sani, on Wednesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Urban Shelter 200-hectare housing project in the New Millennium City, a suburb of Kaduna State.
While laying the foundation blocks in Kaduna Millennium City, the Governor stated that housing is a fundamental pillar of human dignity, which is why his administration is prioritizing affordable housing solutions for the people of Kaduna State.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Sani explained that housing is not merely a structure but is essential for every citizen.
According to him, the state is employing a comprehensive strategy to tackle the housing deficit, including partnering with local and international investors, implementing a robust Social Housing Scheme, engaging in Development Lease Agreements, strengthening the Public Housing Corporation, and expanding Site and Services initiatives.
In his remarks, he noted that the state government’s collaboration with both local and international investors has been pivotal in addressing the housing challenges head-on. The Governor mentioned that Qatar Charity, in partnership with the Kaduna State Government, is currently constructing mass housing units for the less privileged, alongside the Kaduna Economic City, all within Millennium City.

“Recently, I had the honor of performing the groundbreaking for the 3,319-hectare Nuru Suraj Ungwar Dosa New Extension Layout, a project realized through a fruitful Public-Private Partnership, which aims to develop 35,000 plots for our citizens,” Governor Sani said.
Furthermore, esteemed organizations such as the Nigerian Airforce, Nigeria Customs Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Federal Housing Authority have embarked on mass housing projects in Kaduna State, thanks to the conducive environment fostered and the attractive incentives offered by the state government.”
