Dangote Group has stated that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has not commenced lifting premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from its refinery.
In a statement released on Thursday by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, the company said it is yet to finalize its contract with NNPC.
“We would like to state that NNPC has not commenced lifting refined Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from our Dangote Petroleum Refinery,” the company said. “Therefore, the issue of fixing the price of petrol lifted from our refinery does not arise, as we are yet to finalize our contract with NNPC.”
Dangote Group emphasized that the petrol market is strictly regulated, and as such, the company cannot determine, fix, or influence the product price, which falls under the purview of relevant government authorities.
The group assured Nigerians of high-quality petroleum products, which will be available across the country.

On Tuesday, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, officially announced the commencement of petrol production at his refinery.
This comes months after the initial announcement to begin production of the commodity.
On May 18, Dangote said the refinery would commence petrol production in June, adding that Nigeria would no longer need to import the product. However, production was postponed.
