The Nigerian Police Force has recruited 10,000 new police constable in view to address the lingering manpower gap which has been ehiting her service delivering in the country.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Daura Mustafa (PSC) made this known during the passing out parade ceremony in Kaduna on Thursday.
The DIG explained that the massive recruitment of the police officers was in line with the commitment of the Federal Government to curb its internal security mandate.
He however, said that the graduating officers shall be deployed to complement the efforts of the police force in the fortcoming elections on security duties across the country.
According to Mustafa, the highly challenging rigorous physicall and intellectuall training, beyond repositioning the force was also to ensuring fair and credible electoral process in the country.
He added that the passing out ceremony was simultaneously taking place in four premier colleges and 12 police training schools across the country.
” The six months highly challenging rigorous physical and intellectual training activities significed the transition into mainstream professional policing duties, with right orientation to meet emergency security challenges within the dictate of the rule of law.
” This ceremony represents another giant strides by the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari towards repositioning the Nigerian Police Force,” the DIG explained.
He noted that the resolution of the Federal Government to recruit 10,000 police officers across the country yearly was to boost the service delivery of the police.
