A prominent civil rights coalition, the Yoruba Peoples’ Group (YPG), has commended the Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Mattawalle, for his pivotal role in the nation’s ongoing security efforts.
The convener, Folarin Suraj, made this statement while addressing the press in Lagos State on Friday.
The YPG highlighted Mattawalle’s exemplary leadership in fighting terrorism and banditry, noting his contributions extend beyond the battlefield.
They praised his strategic approach to national security, dedicating himself to protecting innocent lives and restoring peace to troubled regions, bringing hope to many Nigerians.
“His tireless commitment has significantly strengthened the military’s capabilities and restored hope to communities terrorized by banditry and violence,” the group stated.
Under Mattawalle’s leadership, notable achievements include the elimination of Mai Hijabi, a notorious terrorist leader in Taraba State. The coalition considers this a turning point in the fight against terrorism, demonstrating Mattawalle’s well-coordinated efforts.
Ongoing military operations have successfully arrested extremists and informants in critical areas like Lokoja, Okene, and the Federal Capital Territory.
“These efforts systematically dismantle networks supporting terrorist and bandit activities.”
Operation Fansen Yamma’s recent launch has yielded significant results, with some terrorists signaling surrender intentions.
The YPG attributes this to Mattawalle’s direction and continuous pressure.
The coalition reaffirmed support for Mattawalle, confident his leadership will bring lasting peace and security.
