Social media reactions have trailed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s return to Twitter, formerly known as X. Recently, the official EFCC account disappeared on Twitter.
The landing page of the account, which had over two million followers, read: “The term you entered did not bring up any results. Please try again later.”
Reacting to the development, Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, said the account was not hacked but experienced downtime due to upgrades.
Ki”When there is a system upgrade, it may be temporarily down and inaccessible. We are doing the upgrade to serve the public better. You can see that the commission’s other social media pages are still functional,” Oyewale said.
On Thursday, the anti-graft agency returned to Twitter after a 21-day hiatus on the microblogging platform.
The EFCC posted a cartoon image showing an eagle dragging a net filled with people, captioned:
“There are some birds you cannot keep down.” Some Twitter users who commented on the post taunted the anti-graft agency for its inability to arrest Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi state.”
