President Bola Tinubu swore in Esther Didi Walson-Jack as the new Head of Service of the Federation on Monday in Abuja.
The ceremony took place before a Federal Executive Council meeting.
Addressing Walson-Jack after her oath-taking, Tinubu emphasized the importance of integrity and transparency in her new role.
“We must learn from her commitment to duty, loyalty, and great vision,” Tinubu said, referring to outgoing Head of Service Folashade Yemi-Esan.
He praised Yemi-Esan’s “exceptional” tenure, noting her efforts in transforming and reforming the civil service.
Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to the president and her predecessor. “I look forward to building on the existing reforms in a way that will bring innovation and creativity so that the civil service can be more effective and efficient to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she stated.
With a career spanning over three decades, Walson-Jack brings extensive experience to her new position. She began as a state counsel in Rivers State in 1992, later serving as Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State. Joining the Federal Civil Service in 2009, she was appointed permanent secretary in 2017.
Walson-Jack’s accomplishments include spearheading the Federal Integrated Staff Housing Programme and contributing to labor relations and national minimum wage negotiations.
She holds the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and is an alumna of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
