President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initiated a major cabinet reorganization, implementing eight significant changes that include the dismissal of five ministers, the reassignment of ten others, and the appointment of seven new ministers, including Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafra leader.
In a restructuring announced by the Presidency, several ministries have been reorganized to enhance governmental efficiency.
The Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed to the Ministry of Regional Development, expanding its oversight to include various regional development commissions across the country.
Among the notable changes, the Ministry of Sports Development will be dissolved, with its functions transferred to the National Sports Commission.
Additionally, the Federal Ministry of Tourism will merge with the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture to become the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.
The dismissed ministers include Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Prof Tahir Mamman SAN OON (Education), Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development).
In the reassignment of portfolios, key changes include Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu moving from State Education to State Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite transitioning from Industry, Trade and Investment to State Finance.

Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Labour & Employment), Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment), Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development), Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad (State Education)

Additional appointments include Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission and Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service while charging the new appointees to view their positions as “a call to serve the nation.”
He emphasized the administration’s commitment to setting “Nigeria on the path to irreversible growth” and urged the appointees to invest their best efforts in achieving the government’s priorities.
