President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of three nominees for commissioner positions at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Senate for confirmation.
The President’s request was conveyed through a formal letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary session.
“In compliance with the provision of Section 154(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following three nominees as commissioners in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” the President’s letter stated.
The nominees include Tukur Yusuf, who has been designated as National Electoral Commissioner representing the North-west region, and Sunday Aja, nominated as National Electoral Commissioner for the South-east. Additionally, Saseyi Ibiyemi has been nominated to serve as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State.
