Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has publicly urged President Bola Tinubu to remove what he termed “excess baggage” within his administration, highlighting concerns about certain cabinet members undermining presidential efforts.
Speaking as the special guest during the commissioning of the 14.1km Umuakali-Eberi Road in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Governor Mohammed emphasized the critical need for focused governance over political maneuvering.
“President Tinubu must throw away the excess baggage,” Governor Mohammed stated, expressing confidence in the President’s leadership while simultaneously calling for strategic cabinet restructuring.
Despite potential challenges, he maintained that governors across various states retain confidence in the national leadership.
During the event, Governor Mohammed also extensively praised Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, commending his exceptional composure and maturity in navigating complex political landscapes.
“Governor Fubara exemplifies that political maturity is not defined by longevity in politics,” he remarked.
Highlighting Fubara’s leadership qualities, Governor Mohammed described him as more of a “field marshal” than a “general,” and urged Rivers State residents to support his potential second-term bid in 2027.
Governor Fubara, in his address, expressed deep gratitude to the Omuma community for their consistent support, particularly during recent political tensions.
He credited the seamless operations of his administration to collective community efforts and support from key political leaders.
Detailing the significance of the Umuakali-Eberi Road project, Fubara emphasized its importance to regional development. He reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, focusing on building capable individuals to drive rapid developmental initiatives.
Looking forward, Governor Fubara announced plans to personally oversee the revamping of local secondary schools and healthcare centers.
He also pledged to continue road reconstruction efforts, underlining his dedication to comprehensive governance.
