TRAGEDY STRUCK BOTO, a village in Bauchi Local Government Area as Abba Musa, the groom and Maryam Suleiman, elder sister to the bride were tragically lost in a road crash.
The Explainer learnt that the accident claimed Musa and Maryam’s lives some minutes to the wedding which had thrown the community into mourning.
An eyewitness, who spoke to LEADERSHIP said the accident occurred while the victims were en route to the ceremony from Murno, a community which lies about 5km away from Boto.
Saminu Boto, a source confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating that the community is in profound grief.
“It’s an unimaginable loss. The entire community is mourning,” he said. The families of the victims are in deep shock, with relatives and friends struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.”
He said the bride’s family home, once filled with preparations, has become a centre of tears and wailing.
Boto described the deceased as a kind-hearted and ambitious young man who had looked forward to building a life with his bride, Raihanatu Suleiman.

He said Maryam Suleiman, the bride’s sister, was remembered as a supportive sibling who had played a key role in planning the ceremony.
“The dual tragedy has cast a shadow over the community, with many residents calling it one of the saddest days in recent memory,” Boto said.
Both deceased were buried following Islamic rites shortly after the accident.
