The Gbagyi/Gbari Youth Association, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, has called on President Bola Tinubu, FCT Minister Hon. Nyesom Wike, and Senator representing FCT, Ireti Kingibe, to stop private developers from demolishing Kumayi Village in Abuja.
The president of the association, Comrade Nuhu Dodondawa Auta, made the call while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
The press briefing was titled: “Calling The Attention Of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, And Senator Ireti Kingibe To Stop Private Developers From Demolishing KUYAMI Village.”
According to Auta, “We call on the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and Senator Ireti Kingibe to urgently address these salient issues of concern to our wellbeing.”
He explained, “In Kuyami Village, private developers are in this community for demolition to displace us again from our land. Then we ask: WHAT EXACTLY IS OUR OFFENSE?”
“The problem is that after chasing us away, they will still build houses there for other people to occupy, as if we, the indigenous people of the FCT, are lesser human beings.”
“We are calling on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene as a matter of urgency, to stop the encroachers and restore our land back to us.”
“We, the Gbagyi/Gbari Youth Association, are saying ‘Enough is enough.’ We are not going to take it lightly with the way they are pushing us. This is our fatherland. We don’t have any other land to go to. If this act does not stop, we will be forced to take necessary action to defend our land.”
“The above demand is key towards the liberation, development, and peaceful coexistence of the FCT indigenes and other Nigerians.”
“For the sake of justice and equity, we plead that our demand be urgently considered and granted.”
