In a bid to enhance children’s health, the Sokoto State government has pledged to collaborate with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on nutrition initiatives.
This commitment was announced during a meeting between Governor Ahmed Aliyu and UNICEF’s Country Representative, Cristian Muduate, at the Government House in Sokoto.
Governor Aliyu expressed his administration’s dedication to ensuring that the state’s children reap maximum benefits from UNICEF’s programs.
“I assure you that within a couple of weeks, we will make funds available for the nutrition program,” he stated.
The governor praised UNICEF for its various intervention programs, particularly those focused on protecting children’s rights and preventing diseases.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to investing in children, highlighting the introduction of several programs catering to their healthcare and educational needs.
Cristian Muduate, representing UNICEF, commended Governor Aliyu’s efforts in education and healthcare delivery, as well as his keen interest in children’s nutrition.
She said,”The unwavering commitment exhibited by Gov. Aliyu towards children’s nutrition will go a long way in ensuring that more children benefit from the program across the state.”
The UNICEF representative called for an even stronger partnership with the state government, emphasizing the potential positive impact on the overall well-being of Sokoto’s children.
