Team Tami, comprising Toyosi and Damilola, BBNaija season nine housemates, have opened up about their premature eviction from Biggie’s house.
The pair became the first housemates to be evicted from this year’s BBNaija edition, leaving the house last Sunday.
In an interview with a select group of journalists, Dami blamed herself for their eviction, attributing it to her altercation with some housemates in the kitchen.
“I believe that if I had acted better, and the kitchen incident hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be out by now,” she said.
Toyosi also admitted that the quarrel affected how the housemates related to her. “After the altercation, they became cautious around me, keeping quiet and avoiding conversations. Sometimes, they would excuse themselves when I approached,” she said.
She added, “It was like a transfer of aggression from Dami to me, and I understand that it’s because we’re a pair.”
Toyosi revealed that she wouldn’t be living with Damilola, her friend of seven years and former roommate. In an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu shortly after their eviction, Toyosi mentioned temporarily separating from Damilola to “process our feelings separately.”
Clarifying her statement, Toyosi said, “I didn’t say I needed space from Damilola; there’s been a misconception. I meant we need to process our feelings separately to move forward. I never said I needed space from her.”
When asked how Toyosi’s decision made her feel, Dami described it as “shocking.”
“After the eviction, we hadn’t spoken, so it wasn’t a mutual conversation. However, it’s understandable on both ends, as much as it was shocking to me. It was a mutual understanding,” she said.
