SEVEN MONTHS AFTER, the Federal Government of Nigeria has fulfilled a promise of N77,000 to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members which became effective March 2025.
The serving corps members were receiving N33,000 which the Federal government increased the allowance in September 2024 which aligned with approved minimum wages, signed by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The corps members had frustrated over the delayed implementation, leading to backlash from netizens and corps members.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, confirmed that serving corps members and those in the scheme during the announcement would receive backdated payments to cover the delayed period.
Raye: X Users Applaud Corp Members Who Laments Of Hardship
A Lagos based NYSC member, Ushie Uguamaye popularly known as Raye went viral in a video posted after she criticised President Bola Tinubu’s policies over the spike in the cost of living in the country.
She accused some officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of threatening her after the comments about the state of the economy.
Following that, X users have taken to social media to applauded the corp member who criticised Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing hardship.
An X user, @Salawueedris1 posted on his account with a caption thar reads, “Mumu people go think say nah that Raye make NYSC pay corpers 77k”.
Another X user, @ ToluDaniel10 reacted that corps members should thank Raye for the payment.

Another X user, @Goodie_Cheese applauded Raye, stating that NYSC has commenced payment of N77,000 to corpers.

Another verified X user, Folasheycrown22 posted the image of Raye applauding her bold decision and tagging her as lifesaver for corpers.
His caption on the image reads, “Raye is the ultimate lifesaver for corpers.. thanks to her, NYSC now pays ₦77k”.
