As the nationwide protest entered its second day, Hajiya Halimat Adenike, founder of QAT Foundation, called on Nigerians to maintain every sense of decorum regarding the ongoing nationwide protests.
She made the call in Abuja earlier this week during a youths’ solidarity protest with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the protest was uncalled for. Adenike noted that the current administration is still trying to sort out inherited liabilities from the previous administration.
While suing for peace, patience, and dialogue, Adenike enjoined protesters to guard themselves against violent protests capable of turning the country into chaos.
She noted that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration has used every available means to plead with youths on the need to shelve their protests, as the government is doing everything possible to address current challenges.
Speaking further at the protest, tagged “Protect, Not Protest,” an initiative powered by QAT Foundation, she averred that the plan to end the present administration is out of order.
Adenike warned against plunging the country into chaos, citing Kenya and Libya as examples.
She said, “What bad governance are we ending when the government of the day is yet to stabilize from some challenges it inherited from the former government?”
Adenike praised the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, for addressing various youth groups and meetings. She emphasized that Nigeria is not Kenya and urged against allowing any protest that would affect market women or be hijacked by looters and hoodlums. Adenike stressed the importance of cherishing peace and growing democracy through dialogue.
She urged all Nigerian youth and civil society organizations to dissipate their energies in protecting the government, the country, and shun all planned protests.
Hajiya Adenike has previously used various avenues to urge Nigerian youths to give President Tinubu more time. She noted that the policies and reforms by the APC government under Tinubu will materialize in the near future, and Nigerians should envision the future advantages embedded in those reforms for individual and national growth.”
