As Nigerians continue to groan over the economic hardship occasioned by the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidency has announced that Tinubu will address the nation in a televised broadcast today.
Following the removal of fuel subsidy, and the decision to float the Naira, the economy has seen serious challenges with many families unable to feed, while workers have lost jobs and other livelihood opportunities, following the closure of businesses. There have also been reports of bands of marauders invading ware houses in search for food and other means of sustenance.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently mobilizing its members to embark on an industrial action after what it described as the Tinubu administration’s lack of seriousness and political will to address the increasing hardships faced by Nigerians. Perhaps as a last ditch effort to explain the harsh policies to citizens, President Tinubu will today, (Monday, July 31, 2023) address Nigerians in a media broadcast.
Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy to Tinubu, Dele Alake has enjoined all media organisations to connect and air the President’s broadcast. “Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast at 7pm,” Alake said.
