The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 58-year-old man who reportedly died while undergoing a prolonged spiritual fasting exercise.
According to the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the deceased man’s younger brother reported the incident at the Alagbado Police Division on Monday evening.
The younger brother stated that his sibling had been engaging in a 19-day dry fast, which ultimately led to his demise.
“The younger brother said his brother died while allegedly undergoing 19 days of dry fasting,” Hundeyin revealed.
The police received the report at around 7 p.m. on Monday, with the incident occurring earlier that morning, at approximately 6 a.m., in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.

Hundeyin emphasized that the police did not suspect any foul play in the man’s death, and the family has requested to convey the corpse for burial.
The command’s spokesperson stated, “No foul play suspected, family demands to convey the corpse for burial.”
