The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national reconciliation committee, chaired by Olagunsoye Oyinlola, is set to meet the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) today at the party’s Abuja headquarters. Yesterday, the panel finalized its probe into the party’s internal conflicts.
Oyinlola stated that the NWC will receive the panel’s findings and recommendations, which will then be presented to the National Executive Council (NEC) for ratification on Thursday.

When questioned about potential suspensions, Oyinlola replied, “As far as we are concerned, I will take that one as a rumor because we are meeting with the national working committee tomorrow. So, after tomorrow, you can ask me.”
The reconciliation committee also met with National Assembly members to discuss the party’s dwindling fortunes. Oyinlola emphasized unity as crucial for the party’s success, saying, “One obvious thing required for any party to be able to go into a battle and win is that it must be united. That’s what we are going for.”
The NEC, comprising state governors, serving and former presidents, and other key party stakeholders, is the PDP’s highest decision-making organ. Ahead of the NEC meeting, various party organs will hold separate meetings.
The PDP constitution mandates quarterly NEC meetings, with the last one held in April. There have been calls for the party to convene a NEC meeting to address its internal crisis.
