#OndoDecides2024: Ajayi Accuses INEC of Compromising Ondo Election
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has raised serious concerns about the conduct of the ongoing election, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of bias and systemic failures.

Speaking after casting his vote at Polling Unit 004, RCM at Idimado Quarters Kiribo in Ese Odo Local Government Area, Ajayi expressed deep frustration with the electoral process, citing multiple irregularities across the state.

“The system has been compromised. It is sad INEC can’t conduct elections well in one state. Just one state,” Ajayi declared in a video that has gained significant traction on social media platforms.

The former deputy governor highlighted several issues plaguing the electoral process, including significant delays in the commencement of voting in various parts of the state.

He pointed out that it took approximately 10 minutes for him to cast his own vote, describing this as a deliberate attempt to discourage voter participation.

Technical difficulties with INEC’s election equipment emerged as another major concern.

“The BVAS are not working. It’s sad. I think Nigerians should call on the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on this,” Ajayi stated, expressing his disappointment with the electoral body’s preparedness.

The PDP candidate also raised allegations of vote buying across various locations in the state, though specific details of these incidents were not provided in his immediate statement.
