The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has officially dismissed claims regarding a purported timetable and electoral guidelines for the upcoming 2024 Local Government elections in the state.
OGSIEC Chairperson, Babatunde Osibodu, issued a statement addressing the matter, saying, “The timetable making the rounds did not originate from the Commission.”
Mr. Osibodu emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for electoral information.
“We urge all concerned parties and the general public to disregard the circulated information,” he stated.
The Commission response comes in the wake of widespread social media circulation of an unofficial timetable for chairmanship and councilor positions in the upcoming local government elections.
Addressing public concerns, Mr. Osibodu reassured stakeholders, saying, “All necessary and accurate information concerning the 2024 Local Government elections in Ogun State will be provided by the Commission in due course.”
This clarification is particularly significant given that the Commission had previously announced October 26, 2024, as the date for the next local government election in Ogun State.
