Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed view that while Nigeria may be a complex country, it is not too difficult to govern if leaders are honest and lead with integrity.
Obasanjo made this assertion yesterday during the inauguration of a presidential lodge within the Osun State Government House at Oke-Fia in Osogbo, the state capital. Present at the event were Governor Ademola Adeleke and former governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
In his remarks, Obasanjo emphasized the importance of honesty and integrity in governance. He stated, “With my experience, Nigeria is a complex country, but Nigeria is not a difficult country to rule. Maybe one can also say the same that Osun State is a complex state, but Osun State is not a difficult state to rule.”
The former president highlighted the significance of leadership characterized by honesty, integrity, and a commitment to serving the people and God. He commended Governor Adeleke, referring to him as his “dancing partner,” and praised his dedication and hard work in office.
Addressing Adeleke directly, Obasanjo encouraged him to prioritize infrastructure development, particularly the construction of roads, as a means to create employment opportunities and enhance economic growth.
In response, Governor Adeleke acknowledged the previous administration’s efforts in initiating the presidential lodge project and noted that his administration had successfully completed the construction within three months. He highlighted the lodge’s capacity to accommodate five dignitaries and their teams simultaneously.
The inauguration of the presidential lodge underscores the commitment of the Osun State government to improving infrastructure and providing necessary amenities for dignitaries visiting the state.
