The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of fully armed tactical personnel to enhance the security of the Nigerian borders with the Niger Republic, specifically through Katsina State. This move aims to bolster border security and ensure the safety of the people in the region.
The disclosure came from Mr. Jamilu Indabawa, the NSCDC Commandant in Katsina State, during a courtesy visit by Mr. Muhammad Umar, the new Katsina Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Mr. Indabawa emphasized that the deployment of these personnel was a result of the ongoing collaboration and synergy between the various security agencies operating in the state. By working together, they aim to address security challenges along the border and protect the well-being of the populace.
Expressing his appreciation for the existing working relationship between the NSCDC and the Customs Service in the state, Mr. Indabawa stated that the NSCDC would continue to actively cooperate with the NCS in areas such as intelligence sharing and joint operations. This collaborative approach will enable them to effectively tackle border-related security issues.
During the courtesy visit, Mr. Umar, the Katsina Area Controller of the NCS, stressed the need for further synergy among the security agencies. He emphasized the importance of joint operations, intelligence sharing, and border drills in effectively securing the vast geographical area of Katsina State.
Mr. Umar acknowledged that the Nigeria Customs Service could not tackle the security challenges in the state alone, considering its expansive territory. He underscored the pivotal role the NSCDC plays due to its grassroots presence throughout the state, making it well-positioned to contribute significantly to border security efforts.
With the NSCDC’s deployment of fully armed tactical personnel to secure the Nigerian borders in Katsina State, a stronger shield is being put in place to safeguard the border areas.
