The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has firmly denied allegations that it is selling employment positions to the public.
In a statement released on Saturday, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, urged job seekers and the general public to disregard these rumors.
Soneye emphasized, “There is no iota of truth in the insinuations that [NNPC Ltd.] has employment slots on offer to anyone who wishes to buy.” He characterized these claims as “antics of fraudsters” attempting to exploit unsuspecting applicants.
The company stressed its commitment to ethical hiring practices, stating that “as a responsible corporate entity, recruitment into the company is a straightforward process and does not involve the sale of slots or inducement of any kind.”
NNPC Ltd. issued a stern warning to potential job seekers, cautioning that “anyone who pays money for any job in the company does so at his or her own risk.”
The denial comes amid growing concerns about job scams and fraudulent employment offers in Nigeria. With high unemployment rates, especially among youth, many Nigerians are vulnerable to schemes promising easy access to coveted positions in state-owned enterprises.
