Babawale Funsho David, a Nigerian gospel artist, is set to release a powerful album titled “Glorious Crown in 3 Days” on October 1st, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
The album is dedicated to Leah Sharibu, the courageous Christian schoolgirl who has been held captive by Boko Haram since February 19, 2018.
Leah’s story of unwavering faith has captured global attention. Kidnapped along with 110 other schoolgirls from Dapchi, Yobe State, Leah remains in captivity due to her refusal to renounce her Christian faith.
Despite reports of forced marriage and motherhood, her spirit remains unbroken.
The album serves as a poignant reminder of Leah’s plight and the broader issue of religious persecution. Babawale states,
“As Nigeria celebrates independence, we must not forget Leah Sharibu and the countless others who remain in captivity. This album is a call to action, a reminder that freedom is a fundamental human right.”
“Glorious Crown in 3 Days” features eight soul-stirring tracks, including “The Most High God,” specifically dedicated to Leah and persecuted Christians worldwide.
The album uniquely incorporates voice-overs from prominent Nigerian religious leaders, including Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, Pastor D.K. Olukoya, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi, and Dr. S.O. Alao.
These spiritual leaders offer powerful prayers and messages of hope. Pastor W.F. Kumuyi reminds listeners of God’s sovereignty, while Pastor D.K. Olukoya invokes divine protection. Pastor Enoch Adeboye prays for the nation, youth, and the Church. Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi’s prayer embodies maternal compassion, and Dr. S.O. Alao encourages global Christians to remember Leah and other persecuted believers.
The LEAH Foundation, representing Leah’s parents, has appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr. Gloria Samdi Puldu, the foundation’s president, conveyed the parents’ message: “We use this occasion to plead with you Sir to please look upon us with pity and rescue our daughter. Leah deserves to be freed and not abandoned by her dear nation.”
Babawale’s album aims to inspire continued advocacy for Leah’s release and solidarity with her family.
The artist encourages supporters to use the hashtags #FreeLeahSharibu and #GloriousCrownIn3Days on social media to amplify the message.
“Glorious Crown in 3 Days” will be available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Babawale can be contacted at babawalefunshodavid@gmail.com or +2348088858961.
As Nigeria marks another year of independence, this album serves as a powerful reminder that true freedom remains elusive for some citizens.
It calls on Nigerians and the global community to unite their voices in prayer and advocacy for Leah Sharibu’s freedom and for all those facing religious persecution.
