The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Aliyu Zubairu as the new head coach of the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 national team.
This decision was approved by the NFF Executive Committee, following a recommendation from its Technical and Development Sub-Committee.
Zubairu, who recently led El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to victory in the President Federation Cup against Abia Warriors FC in Lagos this June, assumes his new role with immediate effect.
According to the NFF statement, Zubairu’s first major challenge is to “put together and prepare a team for the WAFU B U20 Championship, scheduled for October/November in Togo.”
This upcoming tournament in Togo holds significant importance, as it will determine the zone’s representative for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations next year.
