Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has encouraged graduates undergoing their mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme to utilize their talents for productive endeavors. She delivered this message during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.
Mahmoud emphasized the importance of nation-building and socio-economic development, urging the corps members to contribute towards building a strong, united, and prosperous nation that places emphasis not only on consumption but also on manufacturing.
“The FCTA entrusts that you, as future leaders, will leverage your talents and potential to establish a more united, prosperous, and productive nation with a focus on manufacturing,” she stated. “In that spirit, I urge you to accept your postings in good faith and quickly settle down to contribute to the nation’s growth.”

The minister also advised the graduates to exhibit peaceful and law-abiding behavior as they integrate into FCT communities for their primary assignments. She stressed that their peaceful conduct would earn the love, acceptance, and support of the local populace throughout their service year.
Mahmoud further highlighted the paramount importance of ensuring the security of lives and property in the FCT. She reassured the serving corps members that their safety and belongings would be protected at all service locations.
“My charge to you is to give your best, and future generations will speak highly of your contributions,” she concluded.
