Twelve officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have been arraigned for corrupt practices and truancy, as revealed in a statement from LASTMA’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq.
The disciplinary actions were taken following a comprehensive investigation that found eleven officers guilty of the allegations brought against them, while one officer was cleared by the disciplinary panel.
Bakare Oki, the acting General Manager of LASTMA, emphasized the agency’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards.
The panel responsible for reviewing the cases recommended a range of sanctions for the guilty individuals, including immediate termination of appointment, rank reduction, and dismissal.

Oki reiterated the agency’s stance against corruption and urged the general public to refrain from offering bribes to LASTMA officials.
“The disciplinary measures implemented by LASTMA were consistent with the rules and regulations established by the Lagos State Civil Service. The aim is to foster an environment of transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the organization.
“Individuals were encouraged to report any instances of misconduct by providing concrete evidence to facilitate investigations”, he said.
The statement cautioned all LASTMA personnel to carry out their duties according to the law, stressing that any individual who tarnishes the reputation of the agency or the government will face appropriate consequences.
