Kano State Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has tendered an apology to the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu over claims that Ribadu facilitated the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
Addressing a press conference on Monday morning at the Government House in Kano, Gwarzo acknowledged that the state government had been “misled” in making the allegation against Ribadu.

“We apologize to the National Security Adviser, his person and office for any embarrassment and inconveniences this might have caused him,” Gwarzo stated.
The controversy began when Gwarzo had alleged that Ribadu provided the dethroned Emir with two private jets and security to return to Kano. Ribadu swiftly denied the claims and threatened legal action if Gwarzo did not retract the statements.
In a letter from Aliyu & Musa Chambers, Ribadu’s legal counsel, the NSA demanded a public apology from Gwarzo within 24 hours. The lawyers stated that failure to comply would prompt Ribadu to “seek redress in a court of law.”
During the press conference, Gwarzo expressed shock that Ribadu’s name was linked to the alleged plot, citing the NSA’s “pedigree and integrity.”
He said, “Knowing the pedigree and his integrity, Nuhu Ribadu will never come out to deny it, if he is actually involved.”

Extending the apology on behalf of himself and Kano State Governor, Gwarzo assured Ribadu of “continued support and cooperation” in discharging his duties as NSA.
“We were really worried and shocked when we found out that he was not behind the plan to forcefully impose a dethroned Emir on Kano, so we apologize,” Gwarzo added.
The deputy governor also called on President Bola Tinubu to “thoroughly investigate the happenings in Kano to ensure that peace reigns.”
