Interior Minister Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has unequivocally distanced himself from recent claims that he was appointed as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State. The minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alao Babatunde, issued a statement refuting the baseless allegations.
The controversy arose from an article published in the Blueprint newspaper, which asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as the political leader in Ondo State.
However, the minister’s office categorically denied any such appointment, emphasizing that the report lacked factual basis. The minister firmly disassociated himself from the purported role, asserting that no meeting with local government APC chairmen and leaders had taken place in Abuja, as alleged.
“I completely disassociate and distance myself from the purported appointment, as it holds no truth whatsoever.”Â
As the party’s governorship primary election approaches, the minister advised aspirants to embrace the spirit of love and sportsmanship.
He also highlighted the democratic values of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), stating, “As the father of the nation and as the leader of the party, he is a democrat, whose interest is always to promote unity and peace and would not be involved in any action that will undermine that.”
The Interior Minister urged the public to disregard the misinformation contained in the viral news article and to always rely on credible sources for accurate information. He emphasized the importance of accurate information in maintaining public trust and the integrity of the political process.
