A GROUP OF unidentified gunmen assaulted the home of Maharazu Dayi, the Chairman of Katsina State’s Malumfashi Local Government Area, killing a police officer on Tuesday night.
According to The Punch, The policeman, named as Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, was shot by the gunmen and subsequently pronounced dead at the local hospital while undergoing medical care.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Katsina State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident while stating that the officer was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Sadiq, “Yes, the incident happened yesterday but our men were mobilised to the scene as the officer was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“We arrested three suspects in connection with the attack and further development will be communicated to you as an investigation is ongoing.”
However, it is not clear if there were injured victims, but it was gathered that the attempt to break into the residence was thwarted by the security operatives.
An eyewitness who spoke on the condition of anonymity told PUNCH Metro the chairman and his family were all in the house at the time of the attack.
