Three members of the Benue State House of Assembly have
escaped death by the whiskers but sustained injuries as a result of a road accident during a rally at Utonkon community in Ado Local Government Area of the state.
The lawmakers who involved in the accident are: Mr Sugh Abanyi of Kwande West; Geoffrey Agbatse of Gwer East and William Ortyom of Guma state constituency respectively.
The lawmers were said to be members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to an eye witness, the accident which occured on Friday involved four vehicles including a bus, Hilux van and two Jeeps, adding that the victims are already receiving treatment at Igumale, the headquarters of Ado local government area of the state.
Governor Ortom who expressed appreciation to God that the accident was not fatal and there was no casualty recorded described it as unfortunate.
According to Nathaniel Ikyur, the Chief Press Secretary, Governor Ortom spoke shortly after he visited the General Hospital, Igumale where the victims were being treated, directed that they be moved to Otukpo and Makurdi for greater medical attention.
Mr. Ikyur, stated that the governor used the moment to caution all drivers on the campaign train to exercise caution while moving in convoy.
