In an official press release by the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Government has designated Monday, October 2nd, 2023, as a public holiday in honor of the Nation’s 63rd independence anniversary. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, extended congratulations to all Nigerians, both within the country and in diaspora.
He emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing the challenges confronting the nation and noted that Nigeria isn’t alone in facing complex socio-economic and security issues. He stated, “The government is actively working to confront these diverse challenges until relief is attained.”
The Minister commended the welcoming and affectionate spirit shared among Nigerians, underscoring Nigeria’s prominent position as the leading black nation globally, symbolizing Africa’s pride and hope, especially under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed leadership.
“While conveying wishes for a memorable independence celebration, the Minister reflected on the unity displayed by our founding fathers, transcending differences in faith, tribe, and tongue to secure the freedom we enjoy in Nigeria today.”
The Minister assured that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, this administration is committed to creating a better Nigeria for all citizens, paying homage to the sacrifices of our heroes past.
