The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has refuted claims circulating on social media that the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has been dragged before the National Industrial Court over the dismissal of the former Managing Director of Abuja Markets Management Limited (AMML). The FCTA described these reports as false and a fabrication.
It should be noted that the Abuja Markets Management Limited has been facing internal turmoil long before Nyesom Wike assumed his role as the FCT Minister.
Following his appointment as Minister, Wike announced the termination of appointments for the heads of 21 parastatals, agencies, and government entities under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), including AMML.
In response to the alleged contempt proceedings against the Minister, Onya Nsor Ojiji, the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of AMML, clarified that there is no existing court order against Minister Wike or any staff member of AMML.
In an official statement, the company secretary emphasized that the only pending case in the National Industrial Court, originally set to commence, has been reassigned to another judge.
The statement further read: “Our attention has been drawn to stories making the rounds in the media suggesting that the National Industrial Court has initiated contempt proceedings against the Honourable FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and others, accusing them of disobeying a court order relating to matters concerning the headship of Abuja Markets Management Limited [AMML].”
“We have been duly informed by our legal counsel, and we would like to categorically state that there are no such contempt proceedings against the FCT Minister or any other AICL/AMML staff at the National Industrial Court. The suit referred to in the publications has been reassigned to another Judge and will start afresh [de novo].”
The company secretary reiterated that any contrary information regarding this matter can only be a product of the author’s imagination and should be disregarded.
