The Federal Capital Territory Police Command conducted a parade on Thursday, presenting 39 suspected criminals who had been apprehended for various offenses in the nation’s capital. The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, addressed the press at the command, highlighting the success of the Joint Task Force of Operation recently launched by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Among the arrested individuals, eight were connected to the notorious ‘one chance’ syndicate known for causing chaos in the territory. CP Haruna stated that since the inception of the task force two weeks ago, incidents involving ‘one chance,’ armed robbery, and abduction significantly decreased.
During the operation, the police confiscated 54 vehicles deemed to be involved in criminal activities. Additionally, they recovered locally fabricated guns, a locally made Beretta pistol, and a revolver double barrel gun with live cartridges. The police also discovered three bags suspected to contain cannabis sativa, along with several wraps of Indian hemp and illicit drugs.
CP Haruna expressed satisfaction with the operation, noting the notable reduction in ‘one chance’ cases, armed robberies, and abductions within the FCT over the past two weeks. The implementation of the Joint Task Force of Operation has evidently yielded positive results, enhancing the safety and security of residents in the nation’s capital.
