JOHN OLUKAYODE FAYEMI, a former Governor of Ekiti and minister, has denied leaving All Progressive Congress, APC
Fayemi who served as governor between 2018 to 2022 and a minister of solid minerals development under ex president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet between 2025 to 2018, posted the development via his Facebook page.

This comes barely 24 hours after Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the then governor of Kaduna State, announced his departure from APC and joined the Social Democratic Party.
Fayemi’s Facebook post reads, “My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card-carrying foundation member of the APC, and this position has not changed.
While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy”.
