The Federal Government has declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement in a statement on Sunday issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.
The Minister extended congratulations to all Muslims for successfully completing the fasting period during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Tunji-Ojo urged them to embody and practice virtues such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, in line with the exemplary traits of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
The statement stated, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 9th, and Wednesday, 10th April 2024, as public holidays to observe the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
“Tunji-Ojo called on the Muslim Ummah to embrace and uphold the virtues that encompass kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
“He further encouraged Nigerians to continue fostering unity to enhance peace and harmony in the nation.
“The Minister extends best wishes to all members of the Muslim Ummah for a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prays for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah to be upon everyone and our beloved nation.”
