The Nigerian entertainment industry was recently stirred by the news of socialite Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, being arraigned for abuse of the Naira. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged the socialite before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court.
Following his release on bail, the socialite expressed his gratitude to his friends and fans for their concern via his Instagram handle. He acknowledged being humbled by the trial and added that it has confirmed that he isn’t “small.”
In response to Cubana Chief Priest’s post, popular singer Davido commented, expressing his disbelief at the possibility of Cubana Chief Priest being jailed. He emphasized his inability to bear not seeing him for six months, writing, “I no go see u for 6 months ke… Never.”
This incident comes on the heels of another high-profile case involving the popular crossdresser, Bobrisky. Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced Bobrisky to six months in jail without the option of a fine last Friday, following his conviction for Naira mutilation.
