Two constables alongside their superiors from Jimeta Divisional Police Command, Adamawa State have been summoned to Force Headquarters, due to the recent incident involving a Student Union president. The policemen were seen in a viral video escorting and saluting a student union leader in a manner described by police authorities as ridiculing the force. Their behavior was said to be reprehensible and against the values of the Police force.
According to a statement on the Facebook page of the Police, the officers were deployed to maintain peace and order during the convention and electoral process organized by the National Union of Adamawa State Students (NUADSS) on 4th and 5th of September, 2023. “However, their actions were not in line with the purpose for which they were deployed. They have both been referred to the Force Provost for further disciplinary actions.
“We are committed to maintaining professionalism and upholding the dignity of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
