The Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic Education (CHRICED) is filled with deep sorrow as they mourn the loss of Professor Aaron Ola Ogundiwin, the former National Coordinator of the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG). Prof. Ogundiwin passed away after a brief illness on November 16, 2023.
CHRICED is profoundly saddened by the departure of this resolute and dedicated colleague who led the TMG Secretariat following the 2015 general elections. During his tenure under the Chairmanship of Comrade Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, Prof. Ogundiwin demonstrated his reliability and became a dependable ally in the quest to deepen democracy in Nigeria. He played a pivotal role in leading the implementation of projects that aimed to achieve free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
As a political scientist and a committed scholar, Prof. Ogundiwin leveraged his academic expertise to conduct extensive research and provide valuable insights during the execution of diverse projects for the promotion of democracy and good governance.
The loss of Prof. Ogundiwin will be deeply felt, not just for the vastness of his knowledge, but also for his unwavering dedication to utilizing his talents towards the growth and consolidation of democracy in Nigeria. In this challenging time, CHRICED extends its heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Ogundiwin, and all members of his family. May the Almighty grant the amiable Prof. Ogundiwin eternal repose.
