Frontline Non Governmental Organisation, the Resource Centre for Human Rights&Civic Education (CHRICED)has express deep sadness over the demise of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Wakili. In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Dr. Zikirullahi M. Ibrahim, the organization eulogised the late academic as a man who created the basis for a strong bond of friendship, comradeship and solidarity.
“Professor Wakili was a visionary leader whose professionalism and utmost dedication were reinforced by his knack for excellence. He was a man who deployed his abilities both as an academic and administrator to work for the good of society. Towards the realisation of the ideals of a better society built on equity, justice and human rights, he worked tirelessly in conjunction with our Centre on issues of development and democratic governance.”
CHRICED also recalled the deceased qualities, noting that as Director at the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research and Training (Mambayya House), he was untiring in efforts aimed at promoting democracy and development in Nigeria.
“Indeed, we mourn the passage of a dear friend, patriot, and a man who believed strongly in the working for the good of the majority. CHRICED prays the Almighty Allah togrant Professor Haruna Wakili eternal rest. We also pray Allah to grant his family the fortitude to cope in this difficult time,” the statement read.
