The Lagos State Government through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has sought the help of the public to get to the root of a child abuse video making the rounds on social media. The video, which surfaced online at the weekend showed a woman brutally maltreating a baby for urinating on the floor. The DSVA has therefore appealed to appeal to the public for assistance in locating the woman involved.
The DSVA, in a post shared on its verified handle @LSdsva, condemned the act and urged the public to help locate the woman. The video shows the woman beating the baby with a rod, ignoring the infant’s cries. In a further display of cruelty, the woman is seen pushing the baby to the ground and stepping on the infant’s stomach with both legs.
The identity of the woman in the video remains unclear.
“It cannot be ascertained if the perpetrator in the video is the mother of the child or a maid,” the agency stated.
“Trigger warning. Our attention has been drawn to the video. Anyone with information about the person involved or the location, kindly send us a DM or call our Toll Free Line – 08000333333 to make a report,” the agency stated.
